Local favourites Szabolcs Majthényi and András Domokos have already won the championship title yesterday. There was one more challenge for them however, to win the golden FD model awarded the best team without a discard. With their 4th place finish in race 9, mission completed. They have been sailing in sensational form all week with four race wins and consistent top 3 scores to count.
The final race of the series got away in light and shifty Easterly wind that usually dies around midday. PRO Bence Fluck did not want any delay, the race got started under black flag. The Czech team of Hruby-Houdek managed to read the shifts best, they went on winning the race to climb up 5th overall.
Yesterday’s podium positions remained unchanged – Jörn and Bodo Borowski from Germany posted 10th place today, but it was enough for them to win silver medal. The Boysen-Möllers from Denmark settled for bronze with a 6th place finish.
It was a succesful event with all the scheduled races completed. The organisers did a great job on and off the water with the help of the beautiful early autumn Balaton weather. The two consecutive breezy days with 3 races each were pretty demanding and memorable for many of us.
